African Mission

In 1993 the great task of implanting the Holy Cross seed in Uganda was entrusted to Indian provinces. Sr. Amala Kunnath, Sr. Lekha Vadakettam, Sr. Crescencia Kullu, were sent to visit the place at first and our first missionaries were Sr. Amala, Sr. Claudia Kerketta, Sr. Veera Bara and Sr. Louisa Thuluvananikal. Thus the Holy Cross seed in Africa started to shoot up. Presently it is growing rapidly. There are 52 sisters all together, 11 Indians and 41 Africans and 34 under formation. (8novices 14 postulants 12 candidates) There is hope that the Ugandan mission will flourish to the maximum.

The Mother House of the Sisters of Mercy of the Holy Cross is situated at Ingenbohl on a beautiful hill sight of Switzerland, which epitomizes natural beauty. The snow covered mountains, pristine lakes; alpine villages are nothing but a visual treat and continue to give both inspiration and aspiration to our sisters in their mission.
