Krishi Vigyan Kendra

In 1985 a Krishi Vigyan Kendra, 'A Project of ICAR (Indian Council of Agricultural Research)', New Delhi was established. Modern techniques in agriculture were established like sprinkling and irrigation. A well managed Dairy farm was set up to teach the people. The Sisters, who are qualified in agriculture, became the staff of KVK.

Purpose of KVK:


In India there are 600 KVK's. This is the only KVK that is managed by the Sisters of Holy Cross Hazaribag. It covers the whole of Hazaribag district in agriculture and the allied needs of the farmers. It provides training for farmers and youth and gives demonstrations in the latest agricultural technologies.

Activities of KVK:


KVK provides skill services through different departments to the farmers in the villages by demonstrating practical ways and by proving seedlings etc.

  • Soil Science.
  • Mushroom cultivation

Dairy Farm:-


  • The purpose of maintaining a good dairy farm was to demonstrate a well managed dairy farm with cross bread cows.
  • To give facilities for cross breeding through improved bulls and thus generate Employment possibilities
