Palliative Care
...................................................................................................................................................................................................................

On 1st December 2015 'Pratyasha' A 10 bedded Holistic Palliative Care Centre was opened at Holy Cross Hospital Tarwa.

Objectives of Palliative care:-

+ Patient- centred rather than diseases - focused
+ Enhancement of life and acceptance of Death
+ A partnership between patient and the care takers
+ Concerned with healing rather than curing

These terminally ill patients like HIV/AIDs and TB are taken care specially from the less privileged sections of the society. The Palliative care includes counselling, diet, physiotherapy, yoga & health education and the spiritual progress.

Regular family visits to give awareness programs, to teach special procedures by giving technical support, training volunteers, educating & counselling the family members on home based care and to give bereavement support (in sadness & grief) are part of the outreach programs of the project.

Importance is given to Physical, Spiritual, Psychological, Social, and Pastoral care. The sisters engaged in this ministry get ample opportunities to be merciful, kind & tender hearted to approach the terminally ill who are under their care in the hospital as well as in home based care.
